Analog Addressable Photoelectric Smoke Detector with Built-in Isolator
Features
TELEFIRE TFO-770ALI Analog Addressable Photoelectric Smoke Detector with Built-in Isolator
The Telefire TFO-770ALI is an advanced analog addressable photoelectric smoke detector that features a built-in short-circuit isolator. The detector is environmentally friendly, free of radioactive materials, and excels in detecting smoldering fires and smoke from burning various materials.
Operating Principle and Features
The TFO-770ALI includes all the functionality of the TFO-770A detector, with the addition of a built-in short-circuit isolator. After power-up or system reset, the isolator checks for short-circuit conditions. If no short-circuit is detected, the isolator switches the circuit on and enables normal operation of the second connection of the SLC loop. Whenever a short-circuit condition occurs, the isolator automatically opens the circuit and disconnects the faulty side of the loop.
The detector contains a powerful microprocessor that performs initial signal processing locally, offers a high level of noise immunity, and interacts with the control panel for drift compensation to overcome environmental changes and dust accumulation.
Technical Specifications
- Diameter: 101 mm (including base)
- Height: 52 mm (including base and LED)
- Weight: 106 g
- Operating temperature range: 0°C – +60°C
- Relative humidity range: 10% – 93% (non-condensing)
- Sensitivity range: 0.8 – 2.0%/foot (adjustable from control panel)
- Operating voltage: 19 – 22 VDC, modulated (via SLC)
- Maximum current consumption in quiescence mode: 380 µA (TFO-770ALI)
- Maximum current consumption in alarm mode: 3 mA (without auxiliary indicator), 35 mA (with 3 auxiliary indicators)
Installation and Configuration
The detector connects to the TFB-180 standard detector base. Its address is “soft-set” programmed into memory without mechanical switches, in the range of 1–127. The detector’s sensitivity can be adjusted from the control panel in 0.2% increments.
Location
The detector is designed for indoor use. It should not be used in steamy, dusty, or smoky areas (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms) to avoid false alarms. On slanted ceilings, the detector should be installed parallel to the ceiling slope.
Maintenance and Testing
The control panel continuously monitors the detector. When the detector becomes contaminated beyond compensation limits, the panel displays a maintenance trouble signal. The detector’s chamber is removable and can be cleaned.
The detector can be tested locally using a magnet (held next to the LED for 3–5 seconds) or remotely from the control panel.
Compatibility
The TFO-770ALI is compatible with the following systems and devices:
- Telefire 7000 series analog addressable control panels
- TFB-180 standard detector base
- TFL-1AN auxiliary signaling indicator (for analog detectors)
Certifications
- SII 1220 (Standards Institution of Israel)
- UL 268 (in process)
- EN 54-7, EN 54-17 (in process)
