SCM-700 Smoke Control Matrix
The SCM-700 is a specialized smoke control display and operating interface designed specifically for the manual control and status monitoring of smoke extraction and smoke management systems. The module allows for direct and clear supervision and intervention of fans, dampers, and other smoke control devices during a fire alarm.
Technical Features and Operation
The SCM-700 module connects to Telefire’s addressable fire alarm control panels (such as the 7000 series) and provides the following functions:
- Status Indication: Uses LEDs to clearly indicate the current status of controlled devices (e.g., fans, dampers). Typically, different color codes indicate “Operation,” “Fault,” “Open,” or “Closed” states.
- Manual Override: Allows firefighters or operators to manually override the automatic control. This can include starting/stopping fans or opening/closing dampers.
- Smoke Control Modes: Dedicated switches on the panel (e.g., “Auto,” “On,” “Off”) control the operation of specific smoke zones.
Compatibility and System Integration
While the GUARD-V control panel description states that the panel itself does not support a separate “smoke control panel” (Smoke control panel support: No), modules like the SCM-700 are often integrated via RM-7000 sub-panels or programmable I/O modules, or used as accessories for the 7000 series control panels (ADR-7000) in larger systems requiring a dedicated smoke control matrix.
